Chris Barrie is a much loved British actor, comedian, impressionist, and presenter, best known to audiences as Arnold J. Rimmer in the cult comedy series Red Dwarf. His unforgettable portrayal of the pompous, neurotic, and endlessly quotable hologram has made him one of British television’s most recognisable comic performers, with a devoted fanbase across generations.
Alongside Red Dwarf, Chris became a household name as Gordon Brittas in the BBC sitcom The Brittas Empire, where his performance as the well meaning but disastrously overbearing leisure centre manager remains one of the standout comedy roles of 1990s television.
A gifted voice artist and impressionist, Chris was also one of the principal male voice performers on the legendary satirical series Spitting Image, lending his remarkable vocal range to some of the most recognisable political and celebrity caricatures of
the era.
His film credits include the Tomb Raider franchise, where he appeared as Hillary, Lara Croft’s loyal butler, alongside Angelina Jolie. With a career spanning classic British sitcom, satire, film, voice work, and television presenting, Chris remains a highly respected and warmly remembered figure in British entertainment.
