Richard Freeman is one of Britain’s best known cryptozoologists, explorers and writers, renowned for his investigations into mysterious creatures, forgotten legends and unexplained phenomena from around the world.
As Zoological Director of the Centre for Fortean Zoology, Richard has spent decades travelling across remote regions of the globe in search of creatures said to exist only in myth and folklore, including the Yeti, Mongolian Death Worm, Orang Pendek, giant anacondas and the legendary Tasmanian Tiger.
A former zookeeper with a background in zoology and exotic animal care, Richard combines scientific knowledge with a lifelong fascination for the strange and unexplained. His work has taken him from the jungles of Sumatra and the swamps of West Africa to the mountains of Russia and beyond, earning him a reputation as one of the leading figures in modern cryptozoology.
Richard is also a prolific author and lecturer, having written numerous books on monsters, folklore, mystery animals and Japanese legends, including Adventures in Cryptozoology and The Great Yokai Encyclopaedia. He has appeared on television, radio and podcasts internationally and is a familiar face within the world of Fortean research and paranormal investigation.
